Mobile Smoke Eater for Welding
The Plymovent PHV-W3 is a high-vacuum, portable welding fume extractor roughly the size of a vacuum cleaner. It’s engineered to capture welding fumes and grinding dust right at the source — especially in locations where larger, stationary extraction systems can’t reach. Designed for light to occasional welding work, it’s W3 compliant, making it suitable for welding stainless steel and other materials where high particulate control is needed.
The PHV-W3 can be used on the workshop floor, mounted on a wall, or moved easily on wheels for flexible deployment. Its compact footprint, automatic operation, and effective filtration make it a versatile choice for smaller shops, training facilities, repair areas, or hard-to-access spaces.
The automatic on/off feature of the PHV-W3 portable smoke eater is ideal for welding schools as the fan noise doesn't interfere with communication when not in use. The unit has a small lead you attach to the ground clamp that detects when an arc is initiated, and only operates the fan as necessary. This also helps to extend motor life and filter performance.
Measuring just 14.5"W x 26-5/8"H, and weighing just 41 pounds with wheels and a handle, this unit is extremely portable.

How It Works
The PHV-W3 captures fumes at the source with a tangential inlet that begins by removing larger particles. Two spark arresters and an aluminium pre-filter handle coarse debris. The Dura-H main filter cartridge offers large surface area for long life, and the final HEPA filter removes fine particulate to provide exceptionally clean air — especially important for stainless welding fumes. An optional carbon filter can be installed to reduce unwanted odors.
